girl-desk-small2ASL D6 desktop eye tracking system

World’s most accurate and robust desktop eye tracking system

The ASL desktop/remote solution is referenced in more published papers than any other desktop/remote eye tracking system. ASL’s newest desktop/remote eye tracking solution, the D6, is designed to quickly and accurately track a participant’s point of gaze and pupil size relative a single stationary surface such as a computer, television, plasma screen or smartboard.

Applications suited to desktop/remote eye tracking studies include:

  • Psychology and Vision research
  • Website and Software usability
  • User Interfaces
  • Television

Face recognition software allows for head movement

The optics incorporate video head tracking

ASL’s D6 innovation includes the use of face recognition software that equips the system with the highest degree of head movement tolerance. This feature also accounts for participants looking away from the stimulus and then returning to it by automatically reacquiring the eye.

Another feature of the D6 is that the optics are housed in a sleek, unobtrusive and lightweight unit that fits directly under the stimulus display. This has a number of benefits over being built into other equipment like a PC or monitor, which restrict portability and become obsolete. ASL’s state-of-the- art D6 system uses bright pupil optics that provide the best pupil image contrast in most indoor environments. The D6 optics track at a number of speeds – the standard option tracks at 60 Hz whilst the high speed option tracks at 120 Hz and 240 Hz.

Easy to use

Many of the functions of ASL’s desktop/remote systems are fully automated for ease of use but also accommodate manual overrides when adjustments are required for more challenging subjects.

Adapting to new environments

An important feature of the D6 is that the desktop/remote optics are interchangeable with head mounted and long range optics, providing excellent adaptability to changing environments without the need to purchase an additional system. This unique design allows for evolving research projects and changing research needs. The control unit is compatible with a large number of PCs and monitor sizes giving researchers the flexibility to use any computer and display that meets their needs. This also means that when a technology fails or a new one is introduced, the ASL solution continues to adapt to the new environments.
